Have you ever noticed most people can tell you about the Home Ec sewing project? Let’s revamp said sewing project with a new and updated way to practice the same sewing skills with an ‘Ugly Christmas’ Sweater.

After students have learned the basics of sewing, you can provide the class with a hands-on project to demonstrate understanding. This engaging sewing project allows students to practice sewing buttons, doilies, fabric, etc while creating a fun, themed shirt/sweatshirt.

 

What if I have students who do not celebrate holidays and/or I also teach a spring course? 

Not every student will want to create a holiday-themed shirt and that’s ok! Included in this product are templates for a “Tacky Tourist” theme as well. Picture palm trees and cruise ships. ☀️

 

Project Suggestions: 

Do you have a student who is obsessed with a specific sports team or movie/tv show? Possibly the Ugly Holiday Sweater theme uses fabric with those specific designs, such as a Christmas tree cut from St. Louis Cardinal fabric and baseball bats instead of candy canes. And we all know jeans days don’t solve the world’s problems, but maybe your principal will allow a jeans day for those participating in Ugly Christmas Sweater Day after the project is complete.
