Fun Kitchen and Food Safety 4 Puzzle Digital and Print Escape Room
With the rise of digital escape rooms, it’s no surprise that the world of kitchen and food safety has entered the mix. A kitchen and food safety digital and print escape room is a fun and interactive way to learn about important safety practices when it comes to cooking and preparing food.
What is it?
The goal of the escape room is for students to find the code to unlock the four virtual kitchen and food safety puzzles before the class ends. Puzzles include information about food safety practices, such as proper food prep techniques, safe food storage, food allergies, and cooking temperatures. When students solve the puzzles, they can add a code to the self-checking Google Form.
How does it support learning?
One of the key benefits of a kitchen and food safety digital escape room is that it can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, making it a convenient way to learn about these important topics. It can also be printed for students to complete. Adding the codes through the Google Form allows for it to auto-grade your students’ work.
It’s also a great way to engage people who may not be as interested in traditional forms of learning. Escape rooms are popular ways for students to stay engaged while learning and working with others. Escape rooms can be completed individually or in small groups.
Kitchen and food safety focus
Overall, this kitchen and food safety digital escape room is a unique and engaging way to learn about important safety practices in the kitchen. Whether you have a classroom full of seasoned chefs or just starting out, it’s worth giving one a try to improve your students’ cooking skills and keep themselves and others safe. As students are working to improve their skills and expertise in the kitchen, practicing food safety is always important. Students will need to know the top eight food allergies. Food allergies are becoming more prevalent. If a student doesn’t have a food allergy, it’s likely a friend does.
There are four main focuses for students to know. Common allergies are key when cooking for others. Preventing accidents in the kitchen includes many components. Someone in the kitchen would need to think through various things throughout the cooking experience. And also potentially dangerous events in the kitchen that could lead to injury or food poisoning.
Digital and print options
This escape room can be completed online, in a printed version, or as a hybrid of the two. All puzzles are accessible online and students will add their codes to the Google Form. The puzzles can also be printed, allowing students to complete the puzzles on paper and the teacher to grade the codes. The hybrid option would allow for students to have printed copies of the puzzles and then each student or group member to record the answer codes on the Google Form. Codes are entered in all capital letters without spaces or commas.
How do I use it?
This escape room has little prep in order to use it. The download will have a link to access the Google Form. You will need access to Google Drive to access the digital portion. You’ll be prompted to make a copy of the escape room. After you’ve made a copy, you will share a link with students. If using a print or hybrid version, you’ll also need to make copies of puzzles 1-4. Puzzle 1 is a full sheet of paper and puzzles 2-4 include two puzzles per page.
This escape room can be completed in roughly 30-45 minutes.
